Spring Onion Millet Dosa is an aromatic and tasty dosa from Karnataka. Scallion, salad onion, green onion or hara pyaaz are the different names of spring onion. They are mild in taste and mostly grown in mild cool temperature. They lack fully developed bulbs and the entire plant is used in making salads, soups, chutney and mainly as an appetizer. In this recipe spring onion is used in rice batter with few spicy masala and dosa is prepared. We usually serve this with ghee, butter and liquid jaggery.



  1. Soak millet, rice, dal and methi for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Grind this into smooth batter and ferment for 7 to 8 hours.
  3. Make dosa as regular urad dal dosa.
  4. If you want some toppings you can do that as well by mixing grated carrots, onion and coconut.
